The Talking Bowl

 

Intention without action remains in the realm of dreaming and visioning.

Intention, imbued with Ritual and aligned Action, is a powerful force for transformation.

Take a moment; pause a moment, before you leap, lurch, dance, dive, or stagger head-long into the intensity of the new year.

Create the time and space to hear the calling of your soul. Take some time and space for the dreams and visions to arise. Pause -for more than a moment-  to be still and listen. Listen. Sense and feel. Notice. Be open to receiving the Vision which is seeking expression through you.

Then honour the Vision, honour the tender inkling of an inspiration, the flicker of a thought, the fleeting glimpse of a dream or possibility. Cradle, love and nurture it. Capture it! Tend to it.

Begin the word-spell, the word-crafting, the spell-crafting required to create a written Intention, which supports your Vision.

The Talking Bowl is used as a way of communicating and sharing in Circle and in wise counsel.

Passed from women to woman, the Talking Bowl weaves its way around the Circle; each person having the opportunity to be fully expressed, to be truly heard; to listen as deeply and intently to each other as we wish to be listened to. Round in shape, sometimes full, sometimes empty, the Talking Bowl is a receptive vessel in which to pour our hearts and souls.

The concept of using a Talking Bowl in women’s circle was shared with me by Jane Hardwicke Collings. Jane was introduced to the Talking Bowl as a process, though a community of women in Colorado many years ago. It is now used over and again in woman’s circles.
